{"id":9687,"date":"2022-07-07T11:17:30","date_gmt":"2022-07-07T09:17:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/twissen.com\/?p=9687"},"modified":"2022-07-07T11:36:38","modified_gmt":"2022-07-07T09:36:38","slug":"metaverse-tourism-key-grasping-opportunities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/twissen.com\/en\/trends-en\/tech-en\/metaverse-tourism-key-grasping-opportunities\/","title":{"rendered":"The Metaverse in tourism: a key to grasping the opportunities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The numbers regarding the future of the metaverse are significant and describe a disruptive phenomenon, as underlined by <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ttgasia.com\/2022\/05\/09\/extended-reality-here-to-drive-tourism-progress\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Caroline Bremner<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Head of Research on Travel &amp; Tourism at Euromonitor International, who states that <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;By 2030, there could be almost 500 billion connected machines, including wearables, vehicles, drones, appliances, robots and smart sensors, and hyperconnectivity from 6G will lead to XR, holograms, digital twins and truly immersive experiences in real time&#8221;<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/twissen.com\/trends\/tech\/il-metaverso-e-le-opportunita-di-business-per-il-turismo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We have been wondering about this for quite some time<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and we are convinced that this is not a temporary trend, but a <strong>change that will also impact the world of tourism in the long term.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the short term, the question will be not only <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">when<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, but also <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">how<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">; only efficient and effective organisational models will be able to develop and consolidate, while the less performing ones may end up with an unjustified waste of financial resources.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Those who think that the metaverse will lead to replacing the real tourist experience with the virtual one are wrong. In fact, tour operators will have the opportunity to <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">value the customer<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> before, during and after the journey, by monetising also with services that leverage their own (new) value proposition and brand.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We stated in a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/hotellerie.pambianconews.com\/2022\/03\/28\/il-metaverso-seduce-anche-gli-hotel\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pambianco News<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> article that \u201cThe metaverse will be a place where not being present means disappearing\u201d. This, however, justifies the success achieved by the small village of Monteriggioni in Tuscany, which receives a lot of attention and is a pilgrimage destination for fans of the Assassin&#8217;s Creed videogame: those who are present will be able to seize incredible opportunities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We at <\/span><b>Twissen<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are observing the growing interest in the metaverse, in virtual, augmented as well as extended reality, which is materialising with <strong>huge investments and acquisitions in hardware<\/strong> companies. The opportunities are becoming clear for everyone and we are expecting a <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">hype<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> soon, however <\/span><span
